Research Direction

 

In line with the 15-year Rice Research Strategy, FNRRTC plans to address the following main research directions.

      Development and promotion of rice varieties for different agro-ecologies which are climate change resilient, tolerant to biotic (blast, brown spot, and sheath blight) and abiotic (cold, drought and salinity) stresses and suitable for local and international markets.

      Development of alternative horticultural and other crop varieties which can fit to the rice cropping system.

      Development and promotion of rice and related crops agronomic management technologies.

      Integration of sustainable crop, pest and disease management options.

      Identification and promotion of effective seed delivery models

      Development and promotion of pre- and post-harvest mechanization technologies.

      Generation of basic information and knowledge along the rice value chain.

      Mainstreaming of gender into agricultural research and development.

      Strengthening of human resource capacities along the rice value chain.
