Research Direction
In line with the 15-year Rice Research Strategy, FNRRTC plans to address the following main research directions.
• Development and promotion of rice varieties for different agro-ecologies which are climate change resilient, tolerant to biotic (blast, brown spot, and sheath blight) and abiotic (cold, drought and salinity) stresses and suitable for local and international markets.
• Development of alternative horticultural and other crop varieties which can fit to the rice cropping system.
• Development and promotion of rice and related crops agronomic management technologies.
• Integration of sustainable crop, pest and disease management options.
• Identification and promotion of effective seed delivery models
• Development and promotion of pre- and post-harvest mechanization technologies.
• Generation of basic information and knowledge along the rice value chain.
• Mainstreaming of gender into agricultural research and development.
• Strengthening of human resource capacities along the rice value chain.
