Assosa Agricultural Research Center
History: Major deriving force for the establishment of the Asosa Agricultural Research Center was the serious famine incident in 1986. The Center, originally known as AsosaResearch Stationcarried out research activities under the close supervision of Bako Research Center.The station was put up on an area of 271.84 ha in village 12 with few research staff supporting the agricultural activities of the settlers while research was the primary objective. After some years of operation, the Center was totally devastated during the last civil unrest in 1990. After 15 years of closing from this year,the research center started its activity in Nov 5, 2005 under the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research.
