Call for paper

The Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation program of the Agricultural Transformation Agency of Ethiopia,  Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources,  National Meteorological Agency of Ethiopia and Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research will organize an International Agro-meteorology Conference with theme “ Climate Information for Climate resilient Agriculture: Enhancing agro-meteorological Services to build  climate resilient smallholder farmers in Ethiopia”. The conference will be held on July 3-5, 2017 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. All interested researchers scholars, practitioners, policy makers are invited to submit their abstracts for either oral or poster presentations pertinent to the sub-themes and topics listed below

 

Theme: Climate Information for Climate Resilient Agriculture:   Enhancing Agro-meteorological Advisory Services to build climate resilience smallholder farmers in Ethiopia

Sub-theme-I:  Meteorological information generation


·         Agro-meteorological monitoring and forecasting methods

·         Communicating forecast uncertainty

·         Methods of measurements and observations (e.g. ground based equipment, remote sensing products, citizen science, Big Data and Smart Ag etc.)

Sub-theme-II: Climate risk factors in agriculture

·         Agro meteorological applications for Sustainable Pest Management

·         Weather index insurance

·         Drought and flood

·         Food security

Sub-theme-III:  Agro-meteorological services

·         Interactions/feedback of farmers and other end users of agrometeorological products and services

·         Agrometeorological service networks.

·         Providing agro-meteorological information to support decision making in agriculture

·         Agro-met service for livestock development


Sub-theme-IV: Agricultural and Climate Change

·         Weather and climatic extremes and their impact on agriculture

·         Agrometeorological applications for Sustainable Agriculture, Forestry and Climate

·         Climate change adaptation and mitigation  for agricultural sector

Sub-theme-V: Crop weather modeling

·         Agro-meteorological modelling (e.g. modelling agro-meteorological related diseases, frost protection warning methods, drought indices etc.)

·         Modelling of Climate change impacts on agriculture

·         Crop modelling for agricultural risk management

Sub-theme –VI: The role of policy to mainstream climate information in the agricultural sector

·         Agro-meteorological training and education

·         Data and Meteorological service deliver policy

·         Policy on climate change

·         Mass media and agro-meteorological service

 

Abstract submission guideline

 

 The abstract must contain the following:

·         Name, Affiliation and email address of the Author(s)

·         Title of the paper

·         Key words (maximum five)

·         The  Calibri font with size of 12 and double spacing

·         The abstract must not exceed a page

 

All the selected abstract will be published in the conference proceedings

Important dates

 

·         Abstract deadline submission: June 15, 2017

·         Notification of the selected papers: June 20, 2017

·         Full paper and presentation submission of the selected abstracts: June 27, 2017

·         Conference date: July 3-5, 2017
