OFAB organized 9th Media Training workshop on updates in agricultural biotechnology and science communication

Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology in Africa (OFAB) is a platform that facilitate regular exchange of credible information among stakeholders to enhance the better understanding of agricultural biotechnology benefits. It is established in Ethiopia in 2014. The Forum brings stakeholders in agricultural biotechnology and enables interaction between scientists, journalists, regulators, and policy makers.

OFAB Ethiopia chapter organized a 9th round training on Agricultural science communications and updates for 42 Journalists, communicators and editors on 24 July 2021 in Addis Ababa.

The training was aimed to update agricultural biotechnology information and Science communication methods to help Journalists, communicators and editors to produce science communication products that help to educate the public at large. Training topics covered importance of agricultural biotechnology, its products, concerns and Biosafety issues and science communications and its current challenges in Ethiopia.

A take home message delivered at the closing session was to continue capacitating media and communicators to enhance effectiveness of science communication to the public and also gauge the impacts of activities such efforts.
