Afar people have been detached from any development activities for the past many years due to different political and social factors. But this is mentioned as a story which will never be theirs, because of the region’s relentless effort and EIAR’s insistent work with the region, the youth is now showing how able they are in changing the existing misunderstanding of their capability.

At Tendahoo, A large number of afar youth are benefiting from the area’s sugar development work by involving in many activities, since EIAR’s arrival with the aim of hybrid maize seed multiplication and on its way to create opportunities for the youth to develop their region on their own.

 During the program, which was organized by Afar youth to thank EIAR for its large contribution in giving chances to the youth, EIAR Director General Dr Solomon Aseffa explained his appreciation to the region’s youth for their participation in realizing the institute’s vision of producing hybrid maize to be distributed for many farmers, he further said that the institute will always be there by the region’s side to contribute its share.
