Wereillu Agricultural Research Centrer

History

Wereillu is the newest research center in the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR). Officially guaranteed in May 2022 by his Excellence Ambassador, Oumer Hussen (the then Ministry of Agriculture). The proposed research focus areas are Highland and mid-altitude. Wheat, Teff, Highland pulse, and horticultural crops Dairy, poultry, and apiculture are the main livestock research focus programs.

Location: Wereillu is a town in north-central Ethiopia. Located in the South Wollo Zone of the Amhara Region, this town has a latitude and longitude of 10°40° N and 39° 30° E. Distance from Addis Ababa: 490 km (90 km far from Dessie town); Optional road from Addis Ababa: 300km along Muketuri, North Shewa.Land holding: current land holding 28ha, proposed 100ha.
